About Jinseok Yeom
# Hello!
I'm **Jinseok Yeom**, founder and operator of the JSYCURE team. I am a graduate researcher with a focus on applied cybersecurity, security automation, and the design of resilient infrastructure for both academic and operational environments.
## About Me
My work sits at the intersection of detection engineering, security orchestration, and full-stack infrastructure development. I am particularly interested in how modern machine learning techniques can be integrated into traditional security operations, and how open-source tooling can be combined to build production-grade defensive systems without commercial dependencies. Beyond research, I enjoy building end-to-end systems β from physical lab infrastructure to user-facing web applications β and treating each component as part of a single, coherent security architecture.
## Education
- **M.S. in Cybersecurity** β Ajou University *(in progress)*
- Research focus: AI-based intrusion detection, security automation, and SOC infrastructure design
- **B.S. in Computer and Software Engineering** β Wonkwang University *(graduated)*
- Foundation in software engineering, networking, and systems programming
## Technical Stack
### Languages
Node.js, Python, JavaScript, with working experience in Bash scripting and SQL for data manipulation and automation.
### Infrastructure & DevOps
Proxmox VE for virtualization, Ubuntu Server as the primary Linux distribution, Nginx for reverse proxying and TLS termination, Tailscale for zero-trust network access, systemd for service management, and Let's Encrypt for automated certificate provisioning.
### Security
Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Wazuh, ELK Stack), SOAR tooling (TheHive, Shuffle), intrusion detection systems (Suricata, Zeek), penetration testing fundamentals using Kali Linux, and network segmentation design with OPNsense.
### Databases
SQLite for embedded and lightweight applications, PostgreSQL for relational data at scale, with familiarity in query optimization and schema design.
### Web Development
Express.js for backend services, EJS for server-side templating, REST API design, session-based authentication, and secure handling of user data following industry best practices.
## Projects
### JSYCURE Cloud β Self-Hosted Cloud Management Platform
A full-stack web platform that consolidates cloud VM provisioning, user management, and team operations into a single self-hosted interface. The project was created to replace a Naver Cafe-based workflow that previously handled VM requests for our community. Key features include:
- User registration, login, password recovery, and account self-service
- VM request submission, administrative approval, and lifecycle management
- Real-time monitoring of Proxmox-based virtual machines via the Proxmox REST API
- Notice board with role-based posting permissions and email broadcast
- Integrated notification system for users and administrators
- Hardened deployment with HTTPS, rate limiting, helmet-based security headers, and audit logging
The platform is currently live at `jsycure-cloud.duckdns.org`, running on Node.js, Express, EJS, and SQLite, with Nginx serving as the reverse proxy.
### DeepSecu β AI-Based Intrusion Detection Research
A research initiative focused on applying deep learning to network and host-level intrusion detection. The project explores how modern neural network architectures can complement signature-based detection systems by identifying behavioral anomalies that traditional rules cannot capture. Current research directions include adversarial robustness, model explainability, and the integration of large language models for triage assistance.
### Ongoing Personal Projects
- Building a unified SOC dashboard that aggregates events from multiple detection sources
- Designing a lightweight honeypot system for collecting and analyzing real-world attack traffic
- Developing custom Suricata and Zeek detection rules tailored to lab environments
- Experimenting with LLM-assisted incident triage workflows
- Continuous improvement of the JSYCURE Cloud platform with new features and security hardening
